We got back from a family bible conference in Virginia a few days ago. It was amazing! I caught up with some old friends, made new ones, and learned a whole lot. Now it's time to apply what I've learned. =)

1. What's your favorite time of the day, and why? I love early mornings! I like seeing the sun rise and there is such a nice feeling being up before everything...unfortunately, though, I hardly ever get up that early.

3. If you could have one wish granted (besides wishing for more wishes), what would it be? I could live on a ranch!

8. If you were an awesome singer, which genre would you sing? Celtic/Irish/Country kind of stuff...like what I play on the violin

Country pink...I love that color

13. What's the last album you listened to? No idea, I just listen to my playlists....

14. What's something we'd be surprised to know about you? uh...I have laughing attacks when I get tired...does that surprise you?

1. What is your favorite thing to snack on while you're blogging? Um....I don't usually eat while blogging, but if I did it would probably be chips! =)

2. What is one thing you wouldn't want to live without? Phones and Computers because then I couldn't keep in touch with all my friends from other states!

3. Beach, Mountains or Farm? I love mountains and beaches! But I live on a farm and totally love it...so I'd have to sat farm!

4. What's your least favorite chore/household duty? I really don't like cooking - but it doesn't kill me. I guess it is feeding those vicious chickens of ours! They fly up at your face and takes chunks out of your skin. They are annoying!

5. Who do people say you remind them of? Everyone says I have always looked like my Grandma. A few people told me I looked like Kiera Knightly but that isn't true! So yeah.

6. Prefer parties and socializing or staying at home with the fam? I love both. A party is awesome every now and then, but I love the thought of sitting with family when it is chilly out, drinking coffee, and talking!

7. What's your all time favorite movie? I like lots...Bleak House, Pride and Prejudice (the old one), North and South, the first Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure......goes on.

8. Do you sleep in your make up or remove it like a good girl every night? I only wear cover-up and I never wash it off...so

9. Do you have a hidden talent or a deep desire to learn something that you've never had a chance to learn? If I have a hidden talent...it is still hidden! lol Everything I have really wanted to learn I have tried (I think)

10. What's one strange thing you're really good at? Not sure, I am really good at singing and dancing around the house and not even realizing it. I notice more now becuase my sister points it out.

11. What first attracted you to your spouse? I will answer that when I am married. lol

12. What is something you love to smell? Being outside and smelling smoke from someone's fireplace! I love that! And coffee!

13. Tell something about you that you know irritates people. Not sure.....

14. When you have extra money (HA!) what's the first thing you think to do with it? Buy books! I love reading.

15. Are you a silent laugher or a loud laugher? Loud most of the time. If I get laughing too hard you can't hear it...I know it's weird.

16. Where is your favorite place to shop?Barnes and Nobles!
17. What's one thing you'd do more often if you had more time? Be outside with our animals! I really wish I did that more. =)

18. Are you a big spender or frugal? I can be frugal if I am saving up for something...otherwise I am a spender.

19. Who is your favorite character of all time (from a movie or book)? I have no idea! WAY too many

20. Would you want to be famous? I would like to be known on my violin, but never so famous I can't walk out the door.

We had a wonderful time in Florida! I hope to post pictures soon. We saw lots of jellyfish, a few sting rays, and my mom saw a shark. The jellyfish are so hard to see that I walked right into one and got stung! That didn't feel very nice.

Outside my Window: Cool, overcast day.
I am thinking about: The Beach! We are going next week!
I am thankful for: my family,

I am excited about: the greenhouse we just bought and about going to the beach.
From the learning rooms: math, science, speed reading, etc.
From the kitchen: cabbage soup (very good!).
I am wearing: capris, tank top, and sweatshirt

I am creating: a story for NaNoWriMo, and a post =).
I am going: nowhere today.
I am reading: War Psalms of the Prince of Peace.
I am hoping: that the goat won't bust out again and eat all the dog food! It is so annoying. I am also hoping it would stop raining!
I am hearing: the clock ticking...my sister talking.
Around the house: normal stuff.
One of my favorite things: my Bible, and my dog.
A few plans for the rest of the week: school, practice, chorus, visiting with my great aunt and great grandma. (BTW, she is 99!).
I accomplished since last week: re-organizing my room, cleaning up the yard, giving my dog a bath (she needed one!).

How Long Was a Day in Genesis?

Some people say that God made the earth using Evolution. "We don't know how long a day was."
Well, I have been reading a book called 'Dismantling the Big Bang' by Alex Williams and John Hartnett. It has really good explanations on why a day in Genesis is the same as a day now. Please comment and tell me what you believe. =)

"Genesis 1 clearly states that God created the universe in six ordinary-length days. While the word 'day' has a variety of possible meanings, the meaning intended by an author is always specified by the context. The context of Genesis 1 is 'evening and morning, one day'. The author clearly intended the word to mean an ordinary-length day. The Ten Commandments, which God wrote down with His own finger in stone, confirm this conclusion. The Fourth Commandment says that the Israelites were to observe the Sabbath as a memorial to the fact that God created the universe in six days."

" God's stated reason for creating the universe in six days was to give man a convenient time scale to commemorate and celebrate His person and work of creation. If this time scale is expanded billions of years, it makes nonsense of the Fourth Commandment."

One of my favorite things: HORSES!

What I accomplished today: Falling down the steps on our porch. There is actually a funny story behind it. I found somebodies braces (I am not joking) on the ground. I thought that was really strange and I had a great idea! I would go tell Mom that my braces "fell off". So I went inside to put a book down and went to go find Mom and fell down the steps, skinned up my arm, and lost the braces.

What Is Going On?

Mom took our car into a shop this morning and it ends up the head gasket (I think that is what they called it) is messed up (cracked or something). In other words, we are stuck in Iowa and are trying to figure out what to do. I guess the real thing we are trying to decide is if we want to get it fixed or just buy a new car that will get us back home. *sigh* We all want to get home!
I really want to get home because my dog is losing tons of weight because she won't eat or drink. Dad took her to the vet and he didn't find anything wrong with her. (I do want to go home because I miss Dad too. lol)

My voice is a little better today and kind of worse! I can talk more but it is very high pitched and sounds ridiculous so I don't know if that is better or worse...

Here's video of my cousin Sam riding Justina's horse. It's funny because he falls off after getting smashed into a fence!

Leaving for Home and Ending Up Where We Started

We left for Georgia early this morning hoping to get home around 6:00p.m. Well, we were only on the road for an hour when our car overheated and started smoking. It was still dark out and there wasn't a gas station in sight so we had to park on the shoulder and let our car cool. Thirty minutes later we started again only to have to same thing happen! We pulled into a grocery store (which just happened to be closed) and walked to a gas station to get coolant (?). Well, that only worked for a few minutes so we ended up being towed to a car shop and having the car worked on. After two hours of waiting in the lobby we were told our car was ready. So we got in and again headed for Georgia only to have our car overheat after going only two miles! We got it back to the shop and went back into the lobby. We waited and waited and waited...Finally Mom went to see what was going on and everyone had left for lunch and didn't tell us! They just let us sit there thinking someone was working on our car the whole time!
Anyway, our aunt came and picked us up and we went to AutoZone and a lady there worked on our car and we thought she fixed it. We followed our aunt for ten miles and guess what? we overheated again! So we got towed again - this time all the way to my aunts house. *sigh*
We won't be leaving until Tuesday now -IF our car is fixed Monday.
And to make things even worse I haven't been able to talk all day! Actually, I can whisper but Syd laughs every time so yeah.... I am mute! And it is very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!
Well, that was our stressing day!

I will edit this post someday....I don't have the time or energy to do it now.

We were on our way to the fair grounds where we were going to perform and watch the Wild Horse Ministries (wildhorseministries.com) work with a horse. We were only performing there because it was our uncle who set it up and he and all his family were performing and he asked us to too. (I have no idea how to word that so that's good enough!)

This was taken on our way home (I told you they are not in order).
We had to drive through a bad storm.

At one point we had to pull over and wait out the storm.

Our Vacation (so far)

Well, I probably won't post for a while because we are going on vacation. I hope I can post some while we are gone, but if not I will have a long post when we get back!

A Chicken Experience

Hello Everyone,
I have a funny story to post that happened today.
Someone wants to buy our four game hens, so we had to catch them (a hen hatched them herself so they were loose). The only way to catch them was to put them in the pen with our bantam Sea Brights. The only problem with that is we had to catch the Sea Brights and put them in a cage until the others were caught. So we all got gloves on and went in the pen. I walked up to the group and reached down and caught one and all the others came flying at my head and one landed right on my head! It felt very weird having a chicken on my head (something I have never experienced before) and I was afraid it was going to leave something....
Anyway I dropped the chicken I was holding and got the other one off! =)
So that is my story!

We Have More Chicks

Hello Everyone,
We had more chicks hatch out and more are hatching right now. Unfortunately some died in the egg because the chicks that had already hatched flipped them over. I believe we have over a hundred chicks - or will when they are done hatching. We are keeping some and selling the rest.
To answer Macy's question we have Black Giant, Cuckoo Maran, Sumatra; Buff, Red, and Black Polish; Modern Swamp Chicken (they have long legs!), B.B Red, Millifluer, Blue Splash, Red Pyle, and Blue Millifluer.

These are the funniest looking ones:

Hello Everyone!
Here are some pictures! Enjoy.

Sydney took this a few weeks ago....We were either getting a storm or just had one..I can't remember.

I was holding the branch down for the goats...I had no idea someone took a picture!

The other day one of our chickens hatched out some chicks so we went out to catch them (if we don't they die) and Susie picked up our box and started carrying it around! lol

They have now been moved off our porch and out in the yard. They were getting too big for the brooders and getting out. We have more chicks hatching in a week or two.

Hello Everyone,
Another one of our chickens hatched some chicks! There are ten of them and they are so cute and small! We have some eggs in the incubator, they should hatch out at the end of this month.

Bo is still EXTREMELY cute! She got wet during a storm so we brought her on the porch. While Syd was preparing a spot I held her and she laid her head on me!

Yes, this is my dog.....*sigh*
She knows lots of tricks (play dead, roll over, shake, speak, whisper, chase your tail, get a toy, catch it...). Syd had just told her to play dead and she decided to roll over....if only she would play dead like that all the time! (For "play dead" she just lays on her side.)

Stormy Weather and Sprained Wrist

Hello Everyone,
On Saturday I was bringing in an armful of clean, dry laundry (we don't have a dryer right now so we hang the clothes on a line) and my dog tripped me and I went arm first into the screen on our door. I now have a huge bruise on my arm and a sprained wrist! I broke the screen when I fell, but my dad fixed it.

It has been raining all morning and we are supposed to have isolated tornadoes and "dangerous" lightning (I thought all lightning was dangerous). Great! =(

50th Post

OK, I just had to post this...although it has nothing to do with my 50th post. Earlier today one of our goats got out and tried to get in by sticking his head in the fence...and got stuck (why are our goats doing this?). Well, another goat walked up and rammed him and ripped his lip open. We rescued him and put him back in the pen. Dopey (read last post) decided to get his head stuck again, so we pulled him out so he wouldn't get rammed too. Trust me, he won't be doing that again:

We taped a stick to his horns! (This is not cruel....it is better for him!) He was scared at first and ran all over screaming, but he's fine now. We would de-horn him but we may sell him.

Goats Are Not Very Bright

This is a picture of "Dopey". We named him that because it seemed to fit - and we found out that it really does! As you can tell, his head is stuck in the fence. Just recently he has constantly been getting his head stuck and we have to go get it out. Yesterday he got his head stuck so many times and finally screamed himself hoarse. We accidentally left him there for a long time thinking we were hearing a guinea hen!

My next post will be my 50th! YAY!

Hello Everyone,
I am so sorry that I haven't been posting! We don't have wireless Internet anymore so we all take turns on the computer and I don't have much time.
When we first moved here a hen hatched 12 chicks and now there are only 5! Sydney's dog managed to kill two - even with his muzzle on! (We have to get rid of him now) =( One of the chicks drowned in the water bowl used for our dogs, and the rest were killed by hawks! Does anyone know how to get rid of them? (It's illegal to shoot them.)

A Goat Story

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday while I was making lunch I heard "Lil' Bit" screaming - the goats usually scream when they are hungry and I had aready fed them, so I ignored it. Well, after lunch he was still screaming so I decided to feed him in case he didn't get enough. When I got over there he had his head through the fence (not uncommon during feeding time). I threw some food in a bowl and he just stood there, and then tried to pull his head out - and I realized he was stuck! So I had left him there screaming for more than half and hour and he was stuck! I tried to help him, but when you push on his horns (or whatever you call them) he pushes back. Thankfully, Dad came walking by and I told him and he came over to help. He had some trouble, but eventually got him out!
(Sorry if this is choppy! I am in a hurry.)

Sydney and I have been sleeping in here....It's pretty fun.

We hear coyote's all night, but I'm not worried about them.

The only thing I don't like is hearing guinea's and chickens

all night...and early in the morning!

Hello Everyone,
We have been living on our property since Saturday, and we're enjoying every bit of it!

A hen hatched 12 chicks a few days ago, and I wanted to hold one, but didn't want the mother mad at me. Well, last night I was cooking on the grill and I heard some chirping and looked over and a chick was by itself near our truck (apparently it got separated from its mother). I went over and picked it up and took it to its mother. It was so cute! I hope to post pictures of all the chicks soon.
Also, Susie (a goat) should have her kids soon, and I'll post pictures of them when they're born.

Our Interesting Day

Hello Everyone,
We had quite the adventure today! We took our stuff to the land (since we have to be out tomorrow) and unpacked. Syd and I were setting up a tent - her and I will be sleeping in it for now - and it started to rain before we had the top on! So we threw it on hoping that it was going on correctly, and unfortunately it was upside down. So we fixed it and by then it was pouring. Once we finished the tent, I picked up a hammer and rake and started running to the shed to put them up when I noticed we had rakes/tools all over the place! (Uncle Jess and his family had come over, and the girls helped us rake.) So I had a few more trips to make, and was in such a hurry I somehow brought a thorn bush to the shed with me (lol). By the time we got to the house, Syd and I were soaked and had mud all over our hands and arms.
Then we headed out, Dad and Syd in the Budget truck and Mom and I in our truck. Well, our driveway just happens to be red dirt/clay, and since it rained it was all slippery. Mom and I went first and as we went up the hill, we peeled out. Finally, after Dad reminded Mom that the truck had four-wheel-drive, we made it up. Well, the Budget truck didn't have four-wheel-drive, so Dad kept on peeling out. Mom and I were watching them, and she had the idea of throwing sticks in front of the truck for traction. So, she and I got out in the rain and began throwing sticks in front and Dad and Syd got out to help. The drive was so slippery that both Syd and I almost fell. After a while, Dad got in the truck to test it ... and it worked! On the way home something scratched my arm and I looked down and a thorn branch in my hair...and I couldn't get it out! ( I finally did after working at it for a while.=)
Well, that was our interesting day. I am SO excited that we will be living there starting tomorrow! YAY! =D

Hey Everyone,

I have been reading a book about the Wild West: it's pretty neat so far. Here are two interesting stories (I'm not sure how accurate they are. I just grabbed the book from the library. They are interesting, though!):

Jack Slade, 1861
Jack Slade was known as a hard worker and a devout husband. His biggest problem was getting drunk and disturbing people's peace. Well, one day while he was drunk, he tipped over a milk wagon as he went yelling through the streets. He already had enemies: they hanged many people without cause, so they were really every body's enemies. Since his wife wasn't with him that day, they decided to hang him. His wife, Virginia, was thirty minutes away when she heard what was happening, so she jumped on a horse and galloped into town, hoping to save her husband. She arrived too late. The mob knew she was coming, so they hurried with what they were doing so that she would not see her husband die. After this, Mrs. Slade deserted her home and headed North to bury Jack Slade and never returned. He had never killed anyone, so the townspeople considered him a man "murdered for disturbing peace." The story was so gripping it turned into a legend, and many people said that if you entered the Slade's abandoned home you could hear Mrs. Slade's wails and her black horse's galloping hooves. (Of course, that part isn't true...but it makes the story interesting).

The Deck Hand, 1861

In the middle of night, the night before the St. Louis Steamboat Chippewa was to arrive at its destination with supplies, a deck hand lit a candle and headed out to sneak some whiskey. Unfortunately, the candle ignited the whiskey which then lit off 25 kegs of gunpowder and blew up the ship! The deck hand was one of the only survivors. (Doesn't that make you mad?)

My Surprise!!!

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday while Syd and I were preparing to play at the competition (video posted on the post before this) Dad told me he had a big surprise if I got up there and didn't look nervous - even though I was EXTREMELY nervous! Well, that was motivation. After we played he didn't say anything, so I assumed that I didn't do well enough and wouldn't get the surprise. No one said anything until lunch today, Dad looked at me and said, "You and I are going somewhere tonight, make sure you bring your camera." As you can imagine, I got really excited!

He took me to a Lipizzaner Stallion Show! (They are on their World Tour). It was AMAZING! I watched every detail and figured out some of the ways they got their horses to do certain things. Since I can't explain how cool it was, here are some pictures.

Syd and I played at a Homeschool Talent Show Competition and we got first place in our age group! I am sooo happy! We made a few mistakes...like my beginning solo part I played the worst note ever! And our notes clashed a few times, but other than that, it was good. =)

My Last Post In 2008!

Hey Everyone!

As the Title Says, This is my last post in 2008!

I cannot believe it is almost a 2009! It seems like

yesterday when we began this year and now it's

over! (It's kind of sad, don't you think?)

So Many Things Have Happened this year,

but I will only mention a few.

One of the BEST things this year was when my friend

Marissa got to stay with us for 2 weeks! That was so

much fun (especially since we had not seen her in two years).

We went to the Family Conference in Virginia for

the first time in 3 years; I really enjoyed that. I not only

learned a lot but made new friends!

I could mention more things, but it would take too long...

Of course there were difficult things this year

(and there will most likely be more in 2009), but overall

I had a wonderful time and I hope you all did too!

It is kind of scary going into a new year,

and it is sad that this one is ending. Scary because

we have no idea what 2009 will bring and sad because...

well it just is!

(But why dwell on that since I can't change it, right?)

Have you noticed how much praying for revival has been going on of late - and how little revival has resulted? I believe the problem is that we have been trying to substitute praying for obeying, and it simply will not work. To pray for revival while ignoring the plain precept laid down in Scripture is to waste a lot of words and get nothing for our trouble. Prayer will become effective when we stop using it as a substitute for obedience.

On Saturday Sydney and I got to play at the "Little White House".

Former President Franklin Roosevelt lived and died here.I don't know if this is true but FDR was (supposedly)

in the middle of having his portrait painted when he died.

That is a picture of it and it is called (SURPRISE!)

The gate. Since FDR couldn't use his legs his car was made so that he could drive it using his hands. This gate was so he could "bump" his car into it to open it.

a while we took a break and had sandwiches. One of

the guy's there was "toasting" his with the heater.

That Barack Obama trounced John McCain last Tuesday should have surprised no one. In fact, in this column, weeks ago, I stated emphatically that John McCain could no more beat Barack Obama than Bob Dole could beat Bill Clinton. He didn't. (Hence a vote for John McCain was a "wasted" vote, was it not?) I also predicted that Obama would win with an electoral landslide. He did. The real story, however, is not how Barack Obama defeated John McCain. The real story is how John McCain defeated America's conservatives. For all intents and purposes, conservatism--as a national movement--is completely and thoroughly dead. Barack Obama did not destroy it, however. It was George W. Bush and John McCain who destroyed conservatism in America. Soon after G.W. Bush was elected, it quickly became obvious he was no conservative. On the contrary, George Bush has forever established himself as a Big-Government, warmongering, internationalist neocon. Making matters worse was the way Bush presented himself as a conservative Christian. In fact, Bush's portrayal of himself as a conservative Christian paved the way for the betrayal and ultimate destruction of conservatism (something I also predicted years ago). And the greatest tragedy of this deception is the way that Christian conservatives so thoroughly (and stupidly) swallowed the whole Bush/McCain neocon agenda. For example, Bush and his fellow neocons like to categorize and promote themselves as being "pro-life," but they have no hesitation or reservation about killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people in reckless and unconstitutional foreign wars. By the same token, how many unborn babies were saved by six years of all three branches of the federal government being under the control of these "pro-life" neocons? Not one! Ask the more than eight million unborn babies who were killed in their mothers' wombs during the last eight years how "pro-life" George W. Bush and John McCain are. As a result of this insanely inconsistent and pixilated punditry, millions of Americans now laugh at the very notion of "pro-life" conservatism. Bush and McCain have made a mockery of the very term. Consider, too, the way Bush and McCain have allowed the international bankers on Wall Street to bilk America's taxpayers out of trillions of dollars. Yes, I know Obama also supported the Wall Street bailout, but it was the Republican Party that controlled the White House for the last eight years and the entire federal government for six out of the last eight years. In fact, the GOP has won seven out of the previous ten Presidential elections. They have controlled Supreme Court appointments for the past thirty-plus years. They have appointed the majority of Treasury secretaries and Federal Reserve chairmen. They have presided over the greatest trade imbalances, the biggest deficits, the biggest spending increases, and now the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression. Again, the American people look at these so-called "conservatives" and laugh. No wonder such a sizeable majority of voters yawned when John McCain tried to scare them by accusing Barack Obama of being a "big taxer." How can one possibly scare people with a charge like that after the GOP has made a total mockery of fiscal conservatism? That's like trying to scare someone coming out from a swim in the Gulf of Mexico with a squirt gun. Then there was the pathetic attempt by the National Rifle Association (NRA) to scare gun owners regarding an Obama White House. Remember that John McCain is the same guy that the NRA rightly condemned for proposing his blatantly unconstitutional McCain/Feingold bill. McCain is also the same guy that tried to close down gun shows. He even made a personal campaign appearance for a pro-gun control liberal in the State of Oregon a few short years ago. In fact, the Gun Owners of America (GOA) gave McCain a grade of "F" for his dismal record on Second Amendment issues. Once again, Chicken Little-style paranoia over Barack Obama rang hollow when the alternative was someone as liberal as John McCain. But the worst calamity of this election was the way conservatives--especially Christian conservatives--surrendered their principles for the sake of political partisanship. The James Dobsons of this country should hang their heads in shame! Not only did they lose an election, they lost their integrity! In South Carolina, for example, pro-life Christians and conservatives had an opportunity to vote for a principled conservative-constitutionalist for the U.S. Senate. He is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, and pro-traditional marriage. He believes in securing our borders against illegal immigration. He is against the bailout for the Wall Street banksters. His conservative credentials are unassailable. But the vast majority of Christian conservatives (including those at Bob Jones University) voted for his liberal opponent instead. The man that the vast majority of Christian conservatives voted for in South Carolina is a Big-Government neocon. He supported the bailout of the Wall Street banksters. He is a rabid supporter of granting amnesty and a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens. In fact, this man has a conservative rating of only 29% in the current Freedom Index of the New American Magazine. Why did Christian conservatives support the liberal neocon and not the solid pro-life conservative? Because the conservative ran as a Democrat and the neocon is a Republican. I'm talking about the race between Bob Conley and Lindsey Graham, of course. Had South Carolina's pastors, Christians, evangelicals, and pro-life conservatives voted for Bob Conley, he would be the new senator-elect from that state. In fact, Bob was so conservative that the Democratic leadership in South Carolina endorsed the Republican, Lindsey Graham! No matter. A majority of evangelical Christians in South Carolina stupidly rejected Bob Conley and voted for Graham. Across the country, rather than stand on principle, hundreds of thousands of pastors, Christians, and pro-life conservatives capitulated and groveled before John McCain's neocon agenda. In doing so, they forfeited any claim to truth, and they abandoned any and all fidelity to constitutional government. They should rip the stories of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego out of their Bibles. They should never again tell their children, parishioners, and radio audiences the importance of standing for truth and principle. They have made a mockery of Christian virtue. No wonder a majority of the voting electorate laughs at us Christians. No wonder the GOP crashed and burned last Tuesday. Again, it wasn't Barack Obama who destroyed conservatism; it was George W. Bush, John McCain, and the millions of evangelical Christians who supported them. And until conservatives find their backbone and their convictions, they deserve to remain a burnt-out, has-been political force. They have no one to blame but themselves. And since it is unlikely that the Republican Party has enough sense to understand any of this and will, therefore, do little to reestablish genuine conservative principles, it is probably best to just go ahead and bury the scoundrels now and move on to something else. Without a sincere commitment to constitutional government, the GOP has no justifiable reason to ever govern again. Therefore, put a fork in them. They are done. Let a new entity arise from the ashes: one that will stand for something more than just "the lesser of two evils." As we say in the South, That dog just won't hunt anymore.
